Acer is betting big on mobile computing with a comprehensive new product lineup that includes three tablets and two smart glasses models. The company announced the Iconia Duo tablet series alongside AR Vision augmented reality glasses and GI0 AI glasses, targeting professionals who need flexible computing solutions for creative work and productivity tasks.
The new tablets mark Acer’s shift toward a 3:2 aspect ratio – a departure from traditional 16:9 screens that the company claims better balances media consumption with productivity work. This comes as tablet manufacturers increasingly position their devices as laptop alternatives for professional users rather than pure entertainment devices.
Three tablets target different market segments
The Iconia Duo lineup spans premium to budget-friendly options, all running Android 16 and featuring MediaTek processors:
- Iconia Duo S14: The flagship 14.2-inch model with a 2.8K OLED display, MediaTek Dimensity 8300 chip, and DisplayPort connectivity for use as a portable monitor
- Iconia Duo S12: A 12.2-inch premium tablet with anti-glare nano texture glass and MediaTek Dimensity 7400 processor in an aluminum chassis
- Iconia Duo D12: An entry-level 12.2-inch model with MediaTek Helio G99 chip that brings the 3:2 aspect ratio to a lower price point
All three models support up to 10 hours of battery life and include microSD slots for storage expansion up to 1TB. Optional accessories include active styluses, magnetic kickstands, and keyboards to transform the tablets into creative workstations.
AR glasses create virtual 172-inch screen experience
The AR Vision GR0 glasses connect to smartphones, laptops or other devices to create what Acer describes as equivalent to viewing a 172-inch screen from 6 meters away. The device weighs just 69 grams and uses dual micro OLED displays to overlay digital content onto the user’s field of vision.
The glasses work with Android, iOS and Windows devices through a wired connection, making them compatible with existing hardware. Acer positions them for immersive gaming, productivity work, and private viewing in public spaces – addressing the ongoing challenge of screen size limitations in mobile computing.
AI glasses bring Google Gemini to wearables
The GI0 AI glasses take a different approach by integrating Google’s Gemini AI assistant into a lightweight 46-gram frame. The wireless device connects via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to provide hands-free AI capabilities including:
- Voice-activated interaction and real-time image analysis
- Instant translation for cross-language communication
- Hands-free photo and video capture
- Voice recording for meetings and conversations
The glasses work with the Acer AspireSync companion app on Android and iOS devices, representing Acer’s entry into the emerging market for AI-powered wearables.
Pricing and availability details
The AR Vision GR0 glasses will be the first to market, launching in North America at $499.99, with European availability in Q4 2026 starting at €599. The more affordable GI0 AI glasses start at $299.99 in North America and €399 in Europe.
The tablet lineup follows later in 2026, with the S12 and D12 models arriving in North America in August, while the flagship S14 launches in September. European availability is planned for Q3 2026, though specific pricing for the tablets has not been disclosed.
This product launch signals Acer’s strategy to expand beyond traditional laptops and desktops into emerging categories where mobile computing, AI and augmented reality converge. The success of these devices will likely depend on whether consumers are ready to adopt smart glasses alongside their existing mobile devices.
