Apple is expanding its global developer support network by opening its first European developer centre in Berlin, Germany. The facility will provide hands-on support, workshops, and one-on-one sessions to help European companies create and improve apps for Apple’s ecosystem of devices.

The move signals Apple’s growing commitment to nurturing its developer community outside the United States, particularly as European markets become increasingly important for mobile app innovation and regulation. The centre represents a significant investment in direct developer relations at a time when Apple faces mounting regulatory pressure in Europe over its App Store policies and market dominance.

Apple unveiled the Berlin facility as part of its global network of developer centres, joining existing locations in Singapore, Shanghai, Cupertino, and Bengaluru. The centre will focus on helping developers improve their applications for iPhones, iPads, Macs, and other Apple devices.

The facility will offer several key services to European developers:

  • Hands-on workshops for app development and optimization
  • One-on-one consultation appointments with Apple experts
  • Dedicated labs providing support in multiple languages
  • In-person training sessions on Apple’s development tools and frameworks

Located in Berlin’s Mitte district, the centre is scheduled to open later this year. The timing coincides with Apple’s broader strategy to strengthen relationships with developers as competition intensifies in the mobile ecosystem and regulatory scrutiny increases across European markets.

Susan Prescott, Apple’s VP of worldwide developer relations, emphasized the company’s commitment to the European developer community. “Europe is home to an extraordinary community of developers who are building apps that create connections, encourage creativity, and drive innovation,” she said. “We have always believed that when developers have the right tools and resources to do their best work, incredible things follow.”

The Berlin centre comes at a crucial time for Apple’s European operations. The company has faced significant regulatory challenges in the region, including the EU’s Digital Markets Act, which forces major tech platforms to allow alternative app stores and payment systems. By investing in direct developer support, Apple appears to be working to maintain strong relationships with its development community despite these regulatory pressures.

This expansion also reflects the growing importance of European markets for mobile app innovation. Berlin, in particular, has emerged as a significant tech hub with a thriving startup ecosystem and strong government support for digital innovation. The choice of location positions Apple to tap into this talent pool while supporting both established companies and emerging startups across the continent.
