Meta launches its own glasses line starting at $299, powered by its latest AI model

Meta has announced a new line of AI-powered smart glasses called Meta Glasses, developed in partnership with EssilorLuxottica. Prices start at $299, and the glasses are available now through Meta’s website, Best Buy, Amazon, LensCrafters, Sunglass Hut, and select other retailers.

The launch marks a shift in strategy. Until now, Meta’s smart glasses have lived under borrowed brand names like Ray-Ban and Oakley. With Meta Glasses, the company is putting its own name on the hardware for the first time, signaling how seriously it is treating wearables as a long-term product category.

The timing matters. Every major tech company is chasing a version of the always-on AI assistant, and glasses are one of the few form factors that can deliver that experience without requiring you to pull out your phone. Meta has a head start with its Ray-Ban partnership, and this new line is designed to build on that momentum.

Three frame styles, including a Kylie Jenner collaboration

Meta Glasses launch with three frame designs aimed at different tastes:

  • Meta Adventurer – A rectangular frame with a classic look, available in Standard and Large sizes
  • Meta Fury – A bolder, more statement-making design
  • Meta Glasses by Kylie – A slim oval frame created with Kylie Jenner, based on her personal style

All three styles are compatible with prescription lenses. Meta says there are 26 color and lens combinations available at launch, which gives buyers more room to match the glasses to their style rather than treating them as a purely functional gadget.

What the glasses can actually do

The core feature set will be familiar to anyone who has used Ray-Ban Meta glasses. Meta Glasses include open-ear speakers, a multi-microphone array with wind noise reduction, hands-free photo and video capture, and a dedicated button to call up Meta AI. Battery life is rated at over eight hours, with a portable charging case that adds up to 40 more hours.

A few details are worth noting. The glasses have three-way adjustable nose pads, which is a practical upgrade for fit and comfort. Meta also says privacy controls are built in, with clear settings for managing what you share and built-in safeguards for the people around you.

A new AI model powers smarter responses

Meta Glasses are the first smart glasses to ship with Meta AI powered by Muse Spark, a model from Meta’s recently formed Superintelligence Labs. This upgraded version of Meta AI is also rolling out to existing Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta glasses in the US and Canada.

In practical terms, the improvements include better answers to everyday questions, stronger image understanding through the glasses’ camera, and more capable help with daily tasks like calendar management. Meta says the experience will keep improving through regular software updates.

Several new features are either live or coming soon:

  • Dynamic photo – Available now, this automatically captures multiple frames and recommends the best shot, while still letting you pick your own favorite
  • Pedestrian navigation – Turn-by-turn directions for glasses without a display, coming soon
  • Live translation expansion – Support for 14 new languages including Japanese, Mandarin, Hindi, and Korean

Where to buy and what to expect next

Meta Glasses are on sale today in several countries. You can buy them at Meta.com, Best Buy, Amazon, LensCrafters, and Sunglass Hut. Meta Labs stores also carry them in person. The product page for each style shows local retail availability if you want to try them on before buying.

At $299, Meta is pricing these above basic earbuds but well below most AR headsets. That positions Meta Glasses as an accessible entry point into AI wearables, which is likely the point. The more people wearing Meta hardware day to day, the more data and engagement the company gets to refine the AI experience over time.
