Samsung is expected to announce three new foldable phones on July 22, 2026: the Galaxy Z Fold 8, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and the Galaxy Z Flip 8. But if you are planning to buy one, you may need to wait a little longer before you can actually get your hands on one.
A product listing on PriceBee, a Latvian e-commerce platform, suggests the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will go on sale on August 5, 2026, roughly two weeks after its official announcement. As reported by SamMobile, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip 8 are expected to follow the same release schedule, at least in Europe.
A two-week window between announcement and sale is pretty standard for Samsung’s foldable launches. It gives the company time to build pre-order momentum and lets retailers get stock in place. That said, availability dates can shift, and a third-party retailer listing is not a confirmed launch schedule.
Pricing is still unknown, but earlier reports suggest Samsung plans to charge more for this generation than it did for the Fold 7 and Flip 7. The reason cited is rising memory chip costs, which have been pushing up component prices across the industry. Samsung is not alone here. Other Android manufacturers have also raised prices on flagship devices over the past 18 months for the same reason.
On the hardware side, leaks point to meaningful upgrades for the Fold 8 lineup:
- Sharper displays, with the Fold 8 Ultra reportedly getting a significantly higher resolution screen
- New camera systems across the range
- A more powerful processor
The Flip 8 appears to be a more modest update. Current leaks suggest it will get a processor upgrade but little else in terms of hardware changes. That could make the price increase harder to justify for Flip buyers, depending on where Samsung sets the final figure.
Samsung’s foldable lineup has grown steadily since the original Z Fold launched in 2019. The addition of an Ultra tier this year signals that Samsung wants to push the category further upmarket, likely to compete with premium foldables from Huawei and, increasingly, Google, whose Pixel 9 Pro Fold gained solid reviews in 2024. The foldable segment is still small compared to traditional smartphones, but it is growing, and Samsung has held the largest share of that market for several years.
The July 22 announcement date has not been officially confirmed by Samsung, but it has been widely reported ahead of what is expected to be a summer Galaxy Unpacked event.
