Samsung just updated the Galaxy A24 with One UI 8.5 (Android 16 QPR2) less than a week ago, and the company is already moving on to the next thing. A firmware file for the Galaxy A24 running One UI 9.0 (Android 17) has now been spotted on Samsung’s servers for the first time, as reported by SamMobile.
The file carries firmware version A245FXXUCGZF4, credited to tipster Tarun Vats. Its appearance on Samsung’s server is a strong sign that internal testing for the Galaxy A24 has begun. That does not mean a public release is coming soon, but it does mean the process is underway.
This matters because the Galaxy A24 is a budget-friendly device, and Samsung’s willingness to push major Android updates to it reflects a broader commitment the company made a few years ago to extend software support across its lineup, not just its flagship phones. For users who paid less for their device, getting the same core software experience as Galaxy S or Z series owners is a real benefit.
Samsung announced One UI 9.0 last month and released a beta for the Galaxy S26 series shortly after. The stable version is expected to debut next month alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip 8. Once that stable release is out, Samsung typically begins a gradual rollout to older devices, working its way down from flagships to mid-range and budget phones.
One UI 9.0 brings a number of changes worth knowing about:
- A more customizable Quick Panel
- Improvements to Samsung DeX
- New features for Samsung Notes and Game Booster
- A location privacy indicator
- Accessibility upgrades including Text Spotlight, Select to Speak, improved Mouse Keys, and an updated TalkBack experience
The Galaxy A24 is not the only older device getting early attention. Samsung has also been spotted working on One UI 9.0 for the Galaxy A35 and Galaxy A07, suggesting the company is running parallel testing across multiple product tiers. That kind of broad preparation is what allows Samsung to roll out major updates relatively quickly after the initial stable launch.
There is no confirmed release date for the Galaxy A24’s One UI 9.0 update yet. But with a firmware file now on the server, the groundwork is being laid. Owners of the device can reasonably expect the update to arrive sometime in the months following the official stable launch on foldable phones.
