Samsung Galaxy M47 launches in India with 6,000mAh battery at a surprisingly low price

Samsung has quietly built a strong playbook for India’s mid-range market: take a mainstream Galaxy A-series phone, tweak the specs, add a bigger battery, and price it aggressively. The Galaxy M47 follows that formula closely. It is a modified version of the Galaxy A27, and it launched in India on June 29, 2026, after more than a week of teasers.

What makes this phone stand out is the combination of a large 6,000mAh battery, 45W fast charging, and a price tag that undercuts what you might expect given how expensive memory components have become this year. It goes on sale through Amazon India on July 4, 2026.

India’s mid-range segment is one of the most competitive in the world, with brands like Realme, Xiaomi, and Nothing all fighting for buyers in the 20,000 to 30,000 INR range. Samsung needs to offer real value to win here, and the M47 appears to be a genuine attempt to do that.

Price and availability

The Galaxy M47 is priced at INR 22,999 (roughly $245) after a discount available on select credit and debit cards. Samsung has not published an official MRP yet, so that effective post-discount price is the clearest number buyers have right now.

It will be sold exclusively through Amazon India in two colors: Blue and Red. Sales begin on July 4, 2026.

Display, cameras, and design

The Galaxy M47 has a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. There is a punch-hole cutout for the front camera, and the panel is the same type Samsung uses across much of its mid-range lineup.

On the camera side, the setup is straightforward:

  • 50MP primary rear camera with optical image stabilization (OIS)
  • 5MP ultrawide camera
  • 2MP macro camera
  • 12MP front-facing selfie camera

Both the main rear camera and the front camera support 4K video recording at 30 frames per second. OIS on a phone at this price is a welcome addition, particularly for video.

Performance and software

The phone runs on a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor paired with 6GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage. There is also a hybrid microSD card slot for storage expansion. A side-mounted fingerprint reader handles biometric authentication.

It ships with Android 16-based One UI 8.5 out of the box. Samsung is promising:

  • Six generations of Android OS updates
  • Six years of security patches

That software commitment is significant. Long-term support has become a major selling point in this segment, and six years puts the M47 on par with Samsung’s own flagship promise. For a buyer spending around $245, knowing their phone will stay secure and updated until 2031 is a strong argument.

Battery and connectivity

The 6,000mAh battery is the headline spec here, and the 45W wired fast charging means topping it up does not take all day. For reference, a 6,000mAh cell at 45W should reach a full charge in roughly an hour and a half under ideal conditions.

Connectivity options include:

  • 5G (sub-6GHz) and LTE
  • Wi-Fi 5
  • Bluetooth 5.1
  • NFC
  • USB Type-C 2.0
  • GPS

The USB 2.0 port is a notable limitation. At this price and in 2026, USB 3.0 or higher would have been preferable for faster data transfers, but it is a common trade-off Samsung makes in the M series.

Is it worth it?

The Galaxy M47 is not trying to reinvent anything. It is a well-specced mid-range phone with a big battery, decent cameras, a clean software experience, and a long support window. At under $250, with NFC and OIS included, it is hard to argue the value is not there. The main question is how it holds up against Xiaomi and Realme phones in the same price bracket, which tend to push higher on raw specs. Samsung’s answer, as usual, is software reliability and brand trust.
