Five years of security updates on a phone that costs under Rs 40,000. That’s not something you hear every day in the mid-range space, and it might be the single best reason to pay attention to the iQOO Z11 right now. iQOO has been steadily teasing details ahead of the August 20 India launch, and the latest batch covers cameras, software, and update commitments. The picture is getting clearer, and honestly, it’s looking pretty good.
According to 91Mobiles, the Z11 will run Android 16-based OriginOS 6 straight out of the box. iQOO has confirmed three major Android upgrades, taking the phone all the way to Android 19, plus those five years of security patches. For a mid-range device, that kind of software commitment is rare, and it matters a lot if you plan to keep your phone for more than two years. Most budget and mid-range phones in this price bracket offer two major updates at best. iQOO is trying to change that expectation, and good on them for it.
On the camera side, the Z11 gets a dual rear setup and a 32MP front camera. The exact rear sensor details are still being confirmed, but the selfie shooter is clearly aimed at the college crowd that iQOO is targeting with this phone. Speaking of which, students get unlimited AI credits for AI Captions and AI Creation, which is a nice perk. The phone also includes AI Routing, Conversation Memory, and Circle to Search. Some of that AI stuff sounds useful, some of it sounds like checkbox features. We’ll see how it holds up in real use.
The hardware specs are genuinely impressive for the price bracket. The Z11 has a 6.8-inch 3D curved AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, and 5,000 nits of peak brightness. That screen setup alone would justify the price for a lot of buyers. Power comes from the MediaTek Dimensity 7500 Turbo, making the Z11 the first phone in India to ship with that chip. Performance claims are always best verified in a proper review, so take that with a pinch of salt for now.
The battery is where iQOO really goes big. A 7,050mAh cell is a serious number, and paired with a 1.5K display rather than a more power-hungry 4K panel, real-world battery life should be excellent. The phone also carries IP68 and IP69 ratings, which means it can handle both prolonged water submersion and high-pressure water jets. That’s not standard at this price point, and it adds genuine peace of mind.
The Z11 will be available in Celestial Blue and Aurora Green, with a slim horizontal camera bar on the back. Pricing is expected to land under Rs 40,000, which puts it up against the Motorola Edge 70 Pro and OnePlus Nord CE6. Both are solid phones, so the competition is real. But with that battery, display, and software policy combo, iQOO has a strong case to make.
The launch is two days away. Wait for the full details and pricing before pulling the trigger, but this one is absolutely worth watching.
