Samsung’s One UI 9.0 beta is here for Galaxy S23 owners in India

Three months is a long time to wait, but Samsung just made it worth it. The company has released the first One UI 9.0 beta for the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra in India, and if you’ve been sitting on an older Samsung flagship wondering whether you’ll see any love from the software team, here’s your answer.

The update carries firmware version S91xBXXUAZZHL and weighs in at over 3.4GB, which varies slightly depending on which S23 model you have. It also bundles the August 2026 security patch, so you’re not just getting new features, you’re getting a fresher security baseline too. That’s a solid combo for a beta build.

So what’s actually new? One UI 9.0 brings a more customizable quick panel, which is something power users have been asking about for a while. Samsung also made improvements to Samsung DeX and Samsung Notes, two tools that business-focused Galaxy users rely on heavily. And there are new accessibility features in the mix, which is worth paying attention to because Samsung has been quietly building one of the stronger accessibility toolsets in the Android space.

This matters beyond just the S23 series. Samsung typically uses its flagship phones as the first testing ground before rolling updates to a wider range of devices. A beta launch in India signals that the stable release is moving through the pipeline, and other markets and devices should follow. One UI updates tend to trickle out over weeks, sometimes months, so getting in early through the beta program is genuinely useful if you want a preview before the masses.

To join the beta, here’s what you need to do:

  • Install and open the Samsung Members app on your Galaxy S23
  • Log in with the Samsung account linked to your device
  • Tap the One UI 9.0 beta program banner and enroll your device
  • Open Settings, go to Software update, and tap Check for updates
  • Download the update, then tap Restart to complete the installation

But be realistic about what a beta means. Bugs are part of the deal. Still, if you’re curious about where Samsung is taking its software and you’re comfortable troubleshooting the occasional glitch, this is a good time to jump in. One UI 9.0 looks like a meaningful update, not just a fresh coat of paint.
