SwitchBot AI MindClip is the tiny wearable that wants to remember everything for you

Forget jotting things down mid-conversation or frantically voice-memo-ing yourself in a parking lot. SwitchBot thinks the answer is a small clip you pin to your collar and basically forget about. The AI MindClip is a wearable AI assistant that records, transcribes, and organizes your conversations automatically, and at $119.99, it’s priced to actually tempt people.

SwitchBot announced the device at IFA 2026 in Berlin, and it’s already available to buy through the company’s official website. The pitch is simple: life moves fast, and details slip. A client mentions something at the end of a call. Your partner asks you to handle something over breakfast. A good idea hits you on the train. AI MindClip is built to catch all of that before it disappears.

The hardware is genuinely understated. It weighs 16.8g, clips onto a collar, shirt, or bag strap, and offers over 20 hours of continuous recording with 64GB of local storage. The microphone picks up sound within a 3-meter range, which covers most real-world conversations without needing to hold anything up or fidget with positioning. It also does speaker recognition and separation, so it can track who said what in a group conversation. That’s actually useful, not just a spec sheet flex.

On the software side, AI MindClip leans on some serious horsepower. It uses Qwen-Audio-ASR for transcription, and pulls in ChatGPT, Gemini, and other large language models to organize recordings into summaries, key points, and structured notes. The companion app arranges everything into a Timeline, Daily Memory, Weekly Summary, and To-Do Overview. You can sort action items by category, Work, Personal, Interests, Holidays, and sync them directly to Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, or Reminders. So the thing you said you’d handle on Thursday actually shows up on Thursday.

The Ask AI feature is where it gets interesting. Instead of scrubbing through audio, you can ask plain-language questions like “what did I promise to send Sarah?” or “what gift ideas came up last week?” and the device pulls the relevant moment. It’s essentially a searchable memory layer built from your own conversations. For power users, there’s also SwitchBot OpenAPI CLI support, which lets transcripts feed into AI workflow tools like Codex and Hermes Agent as context data. That’s a niche but genuinely clever touch.

This device is arriving at a moment when AI memory tools are everywhere. Devices like the Plaud Note and Limitless Pendant have already tested this category, and the broader wearable AI space is getting crowded fast. But most of those products are either too expensive, too clunky, or too dependent on cloud processing. SwitchBot is positioning MindClip as the affordable, everyday option, and the local storage plus encryption angle matters more than people realize right now. Privacy concern around always-on recording is real, and SwitchBot has gone after certifications including EN18031, ISO 27001, and ISO 27701 to address that directly.

Key specs at a glance:

  • Weight: 16.8g
  • Battery: 20+ hours continuous recording
  • Storage: 64GB local
  • Microphone range: 3 meters
  • AI models: Qwen, ChatGPT, Gemini
  • Calendar sync: Apple, Google, Reminders
  • Free tier: 300 minutes of monthly transcription included
  • Price: $119.99 USD / £119.99 / CAD $159.99

The free 300 minutes of monthly transcription is a reasonable starting point, but anyone using this daily will hit that ceiling fast and need a paid plan. SwitchBot hasn’t published those subscription prices prominently yet, which is something to watch before committing. Still, the hardware price is competitive, and if the AI processing is as clean as the company promises, MindClip could be the first wearable recorder that actually fits into a normal person’s day rather than demanding they change how they live around it.
