This isn’t some third-party gray market situation. Samsung runs this program itself, which means the process is structured and the quality checks are real. Every phone that goes through Certified Re-Newed gets inspected, cleaned, refurbished, and tested before it ships to a new owner. If parts need replacing, Samsung uses genuine components. Each device also ships with a certified battery that hits Samsung’s own performance benchmarks. And before the phone reaches you, it gets wiped of any previous user data and updated to the latest available software.
So why does this matter? Because the S26 Ultra is one of the most powerful Android phones you can buy right now, and refurbished pricing could bring it into a range that’s actually competitive with mid-range flagships. India is a price-sensitive market, and Samsung knows it. Adding its newest flagships to the program this early suggests the company is being more aggressive about making premium devices accessible, rather than waiting a year or two before the refurbished versions trickle in.
There’s also a bigger trend here. Refurbished programs from manufacturers, not retailers, are gaining credibility globally. Apple has done this for years with strong results. Samsung building out a similar structure tells you something about where consumer trust is shifting. People want lower prices, but they also want accountability.
