Four months before launch, and we already know a lot about the Galaxy S27 Ultra’s camera. That’s either a sign that Samsung has a solid lineup on its hands, or that its supply chain leaks like a sieve. Probably both. Either way, the details coming out now are worth paying attention to, because some of these improvements sound like the real deal.
According to SamMobile, tipster Ice Universe claims the Galaxy S27 Ultra will use Samsung’s ISOCELL HP6 sensor. It’s a 200MP, 1/1.3-inch shooter and a modified version of the current ISOCELL HPC. On paper, that’s a meaningful step forward, and the supporting cast looks solid too: a 50MP telephoto with 5x optical zoom at F2.9, and a 50MP ultrawide. All three lenses sit inside a rectangular camera bar, which lines up with renders that leaked a little while back.
But specs only tell part of the story. What actually matters is how the photos look, and that’s where things get interesting. The Galaxy S27 Ultra is reportedly tuned for warmer color tones compared to the S26 Ultra, which skewed cooler and clinical in a way that not everyone loved. So if you’ve been waiting for Samsung to dial in more natural-looking skin tones and warmer scenes, this could be a step in the right direction.
The highlight control is where I’m genuinely paying attention. One of the persistent frustrations with Samsung camera processing is how bright objects, streetlights, candles, sunlit edges, tend to blow out and lose all detail. The S27 Ultra reportedly addresses this on both the primary and telephoto cameras. If that actually holds up in real-world shooting, it would fix something that’s annoyed Samsung fans for years.
Low-light performance is also said to get a bump. Samsung is apparently reducing noise in shadowy and dark areas, which means photos should look cleaner without that smeared, over-processed look that shows up when the AI noise reduction goes too aggressive. Night photography is a major selling point for any flagship, so getting this right matters.

It’s the issue that has frustrated Galaxy users the most, especially parents trying to snap a photo of a kid or a pet that won’t sit still. Samsung hasn’t addressed it properly in years, and there’s no word yet on whether the S27 Ultra finally cracks it. That silence is a little telling.
The Galaxy S27 Ultra is expected to arrive sometime early next year alongside the S27, S27+, and the newer S27 Pro slot in the lineup. Samsung is clearly pushing the camera story hard with this one, and some of these improvements sound like more than just spec-sheet padding. But until the motion blur question gets answered, and until we get real photos in our hands, it’s worth keeping expectations measured. Promising, yes. Proven, not yet.
