Samsung skipped the beta entirely for the Galaxy Z TriFold. That alone tells you something about how confident the company is in this release. The stable One UI 9.0 update, built on Android 17, is now rolling out in South Korea for the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and the Galaxy Z TriFold, and it’s a pretty significant drop for foldable fans.
As reported by Android Headlines, beta testers on the Fold 7 and Flip 7 are getting their final stable builds now, wrapping up weeks of testing. The Fold 7 stable update lands as firmware version F966NKSUCCZIH, a light 534.56MB download for those already on the beta. TriFold owners, on the other hand, are pulling down a much heftier 3,091.93MB package under firmware version F968NKSU7CZIH. That’s because Samsung went straight from public software to the stable release on that device, no beta stops along the way.
So what’s actually new here? The update brings a redesigned Quick Panel that’s more customizable and better suited to the wide, multi-window displays foldables are known for. Samsung also tightened up productivity tools like Samsung Notes and Samsung DeX, which matters if you’re actually using a Fold or TriFold as a productivity device rather than just a flex piece. And on the privacy side, there’s now a dedicated location indicator that fires whenever an app pulls your background location data. That’s a small addition, but a genuinely useful one.
This rollout fits into a broader pattern Samsung has been building all year. The company has been pushing software updates faster than it used to, and getting Android 17 to its foldable lineup this quickly keeps Samsung competitive at a time when Google’s Pixel phones are the obvious comparison point for software speed. Foldables are still a niche category, but Samsung owns that niche, and keeping those users happy with fast, stable updates is smart.
