AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson told CNBC that he expects that within 5 years AT&T will be the “number one mobile broadband business in the United States, probably one of the top in the world.”
Considering that the iPhone is 3 years old, and 5 years ago the most advanced mobile phone on the planet was a Motorla RAZR, I’m not going to dismiss his claim, but I do have serious doubts. Stephenson went on to say that this year AT&T is going to invest $19 billion in their network, but it was not mentioned if that’s wireless + wired, or just the wireless units.
Anyway, good luck AT&T. You sure need it. You can’t even connect calls in New York and San Francisco, so going from that, to best mobile broadband provider, is going to take a metric ass ton of money, blood, sweat, and tears.
