HTC UK is running a cool promotion for the newly announced Wildfire smartphone. With the idea to emphasize the device’s built in social networking capabilities, the Taiwanese company is organizing a neat contest on its Facebook page. Interested users should answer the following question: “If you could gather all of your friends on Facebook together in the same place for a day – what would you do?” The most interesting entry will be chosen by a panel of HTC representatives and the dream will be made a reality!
To start things up, HTC brought together 150 friends on Facebook for a medieval banquet at the Tower of London. According to the press release, the day proved to be the perfect way for a group of friends, many of whom had not seen each other in a long time, to catch up and strengthen bonds. As far as I’m concerned the problem with this promotion is that people don’t consider most of their Facebook buddies actual friends. If the winning entry could choose let’s say 100 contacts that would be much better. Adding a Facebook buddy is a snap and as we all know, a true friendship takes time…
