Verizon Wireless is reportedly pulling a Sam Cooke and hinting that a change is gonna come. The wireless carrier is rumored to be dropping “Wireless” from its name (for its wireless division, of course) and going by, well, just “Verizon”. There have been a lot of rumors going around lately about odd activity going on with the company’s retail stores, like early closures for some locations this coming Sunday, but nothing has been perfectly pieced together just yet.
According to the reports, as of Monday, Verizon Wireless will no longer be known as such and will move forward with the slogan, “Verizon, Rule the Air!” Let’s just hope that this rebranding and new slogan goes better than the Radio Shack rebranding (see what I did just there?) before the new Droid handsets hit the carrier’s stores.
Oh, and before I forget, the rumor also includes what a small child learning arithmetic for the first time could have told you: Verizon isn’t going to carry the iPhone 4. Yay.
