Virgin Mobile USA to launch prepaid MiFi

Apparently, Sprint don’t want to sell MiFi to prepaid users directly, hence they’re using its subsidiary Virgin Mobile for such an offering. According to Gearlog, the MVNO is set to start offering the prepaid MiFi at some point this week, most likely later in the day. The device will cost $149 and will be available with plans starting from $10 for 100MB to $60 for 5GB of data.

Verizon Wireless is already offering prepaid MiFi, requiring no contract signing for the users. Sprint is catching up and we’re hearing users will be able to grab their Virgin Mobile MiFi from Best Buy, Radio Shack and online.

As you probably know, Novatel Wireless makes the MiFi device, touting it as the first Intelligent Mobile Hotspot that supports rich application environment for both enterprise customers and consumers. MiFi creates a portable, personal cloud of high-speed Internet connectivity that can be shared between multiple users and up to five WiFi enabled devices.
