The Samsung Moment was one of the first Android devices for Sprint, but after a good bit of playtime, you might have sent it back for the Hero. That was Sprint’s Android lineup then – now things are a little (a lot) different. Sprint has the HTC EVO 4G and will be getting the Samsung Epic 4G sometime soon as well. But, if neither of those devices are your cup of tea, then you may be interested in the upcoming Samsung Intercept – AKA the Moment 2.
There are no hard specs on the Samsung Intercept (Moment 2) handset, but we do know have a few juicy details to share with you. The Sprint Samsung Intercept will sport a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display (likely an AMOLED display), Android 2.1 OS, an upgraded camera, WiFi, GPS, and a 4 row slide-out QWERTY keyboard. The keyboard itself has been revamped, but still retains the original Moment’s look and feel. The refined keyboard looks much more usable, but it remains to be seen if the changes are enough to make a difference. I like my keyboards with some symmetry, meaning a Shift button on both sides.
The Intercept looks to be a pretty decent mid-ranged device, and hopefully a decent sequel to it’s predecessor, but until we get some more internal specs on it, we’ll just be hoping for the best. It does look like the Intercept will be available in two color schemes: Pink and Black. It’s rumored to be released on July 11th, but pricing still remains a mystery. I couldn’t imagine it being near the price of the EVO or the Epic, but have a hard time believing the device will be near the $100 price point as well.
So if you’re looking for a smartphone with a keyboard, does the revamped keyboard on the Intercept make you consider it over the Epic? No? Don’t worry, we’re not surprised.
