As hinted at earlier today, Verizon has announced an inexpensive little slider from Pantech called the Jest. The Pantech Jest has a 2.6″ display, 2 megapixel camera, , GPS, social media apps for Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace preloaded, and support for stereo Bluetooth. My guess is the Jest will butt heads directly with the Samsung Strive.
The keyboard looks reasonably ergonomic, and I’ve always been a fan of the portrait-sliding Pre-esque form factor, but the whole thing does look a little on the wide side. Pantech has been spreading its low-end messaging tendrils across AT&T too, but none of the little guys like Sprint and T-Mobile. It doesn’t look like they’re missing much.
The Pantech Jest will be available starting July 5 for $69.99 on a two-year contract after mail-in rebates, or free if you buy it online now.
