I have good and bad news to share for all the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 owners out there. The good news is that your beloved device got a new firmware update. The bad one is that Android 2.1 is not part of the mix.
Before you go nuts let me reassure you that it’s still worth hitting the “Update” button. Here’s what’s included in the latest firmware:
- Improved general performance, speed and responsiveness, especially in messaging tasks and camera UI.
- Backup and restore app.
- In selected markets, PlayNow with premium apps and games will also be added.
Now we can only hope that Sony Ericsson decided to skip the Android 2.1 update as it prepares to launch another firmware upgrade that includes Android 2.2.
The update will be gradually rolled out across market, so pay attention to the notification bar. From there, you should find out a new firmware version is available and then follow instructions to proceed with the update. Make sure you’re in a hotspot when downloading the firmware, though.
Alternatively, you can connect your X10 to a PC and visit www.sonyericsson.com/update to get all the instructions needed…
