Telmap announced that it will be adding Lonely Planet content to its location-based solution offering. Initially, Lonely Planet information is available in South Africa and will hit additional markets in the future.

As you may know, Lonely Planet produces various travel-related guides and articles, covering tens of thousands of destinations, over 800 cities and regions in more than 150 countries.

Telmap, on the other hand, provides white label, hosted and managed search, mapping and navigation solutions to mobile operators and eventually handset makers. Among their clients we find Vodacom, Orange FT Group, Vodafone, SFR, O2, Telefonica, AOL, Pelephone, Carphone Warehouse and more.

Recently, the company unveiled Telmap 5 Mobile Location Companion, and its application is available on a number of platforms, including Android, Java, Windows Mobile and others.

This isn’t the first Telmap’s content partnership. Their earlier efforts include deals with mobile social network GyPSii and mobile ad company 4th Screen Advertising.

Lonely Planet on its end had signed a similar deal with Nokia back in 2008.
