Just a friendly reminder that the hot, new Android smartphone for AT&T is here. The Samsung Captivate, a Galaxy S line smartphone, is now sharing some shelf space with the iPhone 4 and HTC Aria over at AT&T. It features a contrast-rich Super AMOLED display and runs Android 2.1 while being powered by a 1GHz Hummingbird processor. If you’ve been looking for an alternative to the iPhone on AT&T’s network, but the Motorola Backflip or HTC Aria just weren’t cutting it as far as Android goes, there is a lot to be happy about with the Samsung Captivate.
The handset will set you back $199.99 with a new, two-year contract and a minimum $15/month data plan. Pretty much standard fare these days and comparable enough to other smartphone offerings within the carrier or on others.
