Apple iPhone 4, iPad get new international release dates

Apple fans around the world will soon be able to get their hands on the iPhone 4 and iPad, as the company has just announced more markets for these devices.

The Apple iPad will be available this Friday in Austria, Belgium, Hong Kong, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands and Singapore. The suggested retail price for the WiFi iPad is $499 for 16 GB, $599 for 32 GB and $699 for the 64 GB model (U.S. currency). The 3G iPad is suggested to retail for $629 to $829, but individual prices in each country may vary.

The Apple iPad has sold more than 3 million units since its launch and it’s well on the way toward generation $1 billion for the company in the quarter. This is fairly impressive considering many thought the Apple iPad would just be a gigantic iPod Touch and I have to say I was wrong about how well it would be received.

By opening up the Apple iPad to more markets, the company can ensure itself another few million sales. We’ve heard analysts say it should ship about six million units this year, let’s hope they don’t feel the need to crow about each million – can you imagine if Microsoft did that for Windows 7?

The company also said the Apple iPhone 4 will soon be hitting more markets. On July 30, the next iPhone will hit Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Norway, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

Like the iPad, the Apple iPhone 4 has sold more than three million units and the new markets should only goose sales. With a new Retina Display, improved camera, and front-facing camera for FaceTime, the Apple iPhone 4 should be a hot item in these countries when it’s released.

Of course, the Apple iPhone 4 hasn’t been all roses, as the “antennagate” issue led to a testy press conference last week. The upshot is that the company will be offering free bumper cases to users who buy the handset before September 30.
