You’ve gotta love Twitter, especially when unofficial-yet-official announcements like the one above go out. While it’s not a press release or an official Verizon Wireless page, the carrier has yet to make an official announcement for the device. This is the first time that a Verizon rep or official has publicly announced or acknowledged the Motorola Droid 2. We already knew it was coming soon – cases for the new Droid handset already started hitting Best Buy. But this unofficially official announcement is great for you all who have been desperately waiting for the device.
Perhaps best of all is the fact that the tweet links to reports of our own exclusive where we showed you the impressive Droid 2 benchmark tests. The device will be launching with Android 2.2, or Froyo, and it looks like it improves nearly everything you could have wanted to improve with the original Droid.
Since this announcement was made through Twitter, no pricing or exact availability dates were mentioned. However, going by the original Motorola Droid, and the Droid X, we’re going to go ahead and guess that it will be $199.99 with a new, two-year contract from both Best Buy and Verizon Wireless retail stores. Are you feeling more antsy than ever?
