It’s only a few short hours from hitting Verizon stores, but Motorola has just put out a slick new video introducing you to the Droid 2.

Right off the bat, the video touts that the Motorola Droid 2 on Verizon will launch with Android 2.2 and this will mean a full Adobe Flash experience. This software is already hitting the original Droid and it adds things like a faster browsing experience, revamped camera and more.

Speaking of faster, the video promises the Android-powered Droid 2 will have a 40% faster browsing experience than the original, which wasn’t too bad in its own right. The Droid 2 will also have boosted internals including a 1 GHz processor, a redesigned keyboard that should make for better typing, more memory and a boosted camera. It’s not a revolution from the original device but Verizon has been pushing that it has enough new things to warrant an upgrade.

The video also emphasizes security, as the Droid 2 will be capable of a secure remote wipe. There will also be a social networking aggregation app which will bring together all your Tweets and Facebook information. There’s also the mobile hotspot option that we’ve seen with devices like the Motorola Droid X, which will cost an additional monthly fee.

When the original D1 hit, the only other super compelling smartphone on the market was really the Apple iPhone 4 but the sequel is facing a much tougher crowd. The Apple iPhone 4, HTC EVO 4G, Samsung Galaxy S devices, the Nokia N8 (if it were ever properly launched) and even the X provide strong alternatives.

Of the competition, I’d say the Samsung Epic 4G on Sprint is the main challenger for the D2 on Verizon. The Epic 4G also has a full physical keyboard and it boats faster mobile data services and a front-facing camera for video calls.

What say you readers? Anyone getting a D2 on Verizon?
