Verizon Offers Early Upgrade for Those Lusting After Motorola Droid 2

Feeling a little down that all your friends on Verizon are gloating about their Droid 2 handsets and you’re stuck with a BlackBerry Storm? Fret not! Big Red is offering, as it did with the Motorola Droid X, the option to upgrade early if your contract ends any time this year. So if you thought you weren’t eligible for an upgrade until snow starts coming down, you are now.

The successor to the original Motorola Droid will run for $199 for the early upgraders–same price as it would go for with new customers. You’ll be extending your contract another two years, but it’s a small price to pay to satisfy your craving for a shiny, new gadget.

These early upgrade offers from Verizon is the perfect way to get customers down on lock, especially since other carriers are slowly-but-surely rolling out some very attractive handsets. Sprint has the HTC EVO 4G and Samsung Epic 4G, both devices are 4G or WiMax capable and come at very attractive pricing packages, too. AT&T is still pumping the iPhone 4 and it’s selling like hotcakes despite the Antennagate drama.

Anyone ready to hit the door and fire up the station wagon to grab a new Droid 2?
