
Like many other companies and organizations, U.S.’ National Peanut Board (NPB) wants its slice of the “Apple pie,” too. The organization that represents all USA peanut farmers and their families released Peanuts: Energy for the Good Life iPhone app, offering recipes, snack suggestions and a five-minute mindfulness meditation exercises to help people care for their bodies and minds throughout every part of every day.
There are more than 30 dietitian selected recipes included with nutrition information, along with an option to set reminders to have a snack or take a break. As you may know, snacks supply energy throughout the day when hunger strikes, and help to prevent overeating during meals. Unsurprisingly, the official press release touts peanuts and peanut products as great snacks that “provide the energy needed to ‘trump the slump’ and get through the day.”
As for the mentioned meditation exercises, NPB teamed up with Stephan Bodian, licensed psychotherapist and author of Meditation for Dummies. He is the former editor-in-chief of Yoga Journal, practiced as a Zen Buddhist monk for 10 years and studied Asian language and culture at Columbia and Stanford.
