Samsung announced the Galaxy U (model number SHW-M130L) South Korea’s LG U+. The new member of the Galaxy family comes with a slightly smaller screen than the original Galaxy S — 3.7 vs 4 inches, while keeping the rest of the specs pretty much unchanged. That said, there’s a 1GHz CPU, WiFi (802.11n) and 3G (CDMA-based EV-DO Rev. A) connectivity, 5-megapixel camera with auto-focus and 720p video recording, Bluetooth 3.0, Android 2.1, WVGA capacitive touchscreen, GPS, 3.5mm headset jack, 1500mAh battery and a microSD expansion slot (8GB card comes included in the box). In addition, we find some carrier and country-specific features such as T-DMB mobile TV receiver along with few pre-installed apps such as OZ Store, Kyobo e-book, Daum maps and Allshare. Size wise, the phone measures 119.5×59.6×12.4 mm and has a weight of 131 grams.
As for the pricing, the Galaxy U will be available in white or black for 800,000 won which is about $682. That’s the price of an unlocked device that doesn’t require committing to any contracts…
