Video: Tumbleroo: The almost perfect way to interact with Tumblr on your iPad

Tumblr, the online service that’s not quite a blog, but not quite a microblog like Twitter, now has a beautiful way of being accessed on the iPad via an application called Tumbleroo. Developed by Jerry Brito and Peter Snyder, Tumbleroo introduces a dual pane user interface that lets you do all the things you usually do with your Tumblr: reblog, reblog with comment, or share.

I’m a Tumblr addict and am subscribed to over 70 Tumblogs as they’re called. My secret hobby, well not a secret anymore, is the fashion industry and artistic nudes. Tumblr is full of models, fashion photographers, and designers, all posting their work constantly. If I had an iPad I’m sure I’d enjoy using Tumbleroo, but I’ve got a minor qualm about the application. To quote Dave Winer, the inventor of RSS, there’s no “river of news” presentation style. By that I mean there’s no endlessly scrolling list that shows me all the posts from all the Tumblogs I subscribe to. That’s a bit bothersome. I already stopped consuming Tumblogs via the website’s dashboard and instead just shoved all my favorite Tumblogs in an RSS reader so I can browse through images at my own leisure. I also don’t miss any photos, which is a huge plus.

Do you have an iPad? Do you have a Tumblog? Give this application a try and let us know what you think in the comments below. If you have any feature requests then shoot the developers an email. David Karp, the Founder of Tumblr, says he thinks this application is “awesome”. Then again what would you expect? More people using his service means more page views means more money he can potentially ask for from investors who are still stuck in the mid 2000s frame of mind whereby eyeballs equal dollar signs.

Oh and my top 3 favorite Tumblogs: iLuvSkinnyBitches, Retro Doll, Papiers Gras.
