If you’re the type who absolutely has to jailbreak your iPhone, perhaps you might stick with what you have for now. The iPhone Dev-Team says that there will be no jailbreak for iOS 4.0.2 with the baseband 3.2.2. So if you’ve purchased an iPhone 4 recently, or you plan on doing so soon, tough cookies. The Dev-Team says they’re not going to touch this one for a while, and for good reason, too.
According to the Dev-Team:
“No, there won’t be. FW 4.0.2/3.2.2 was only released to fix the jailbreakme hole. With FW 4.1 still in its beta stages, it makes no sense to escalate the “cat & mouse” with Apple for FW updates that only fix the jailbreak holes. To quote WOPR, “the only winning move is not to play”.
There you have it: the iPhone Dev-Team is getting tired of playing this “cat & mouse” game with Apple, and that makes sense. The latest update is in its working stages before it officially hits, so it is smart to just sit this one out until the big update comes.
In the meantime, I’m sure you jailbreakers are plenty satisfied with what you have now–what with your free tethering and unofficial apps.
