Facebook for Palm webOS updated to version 1.3

Facebook for webOS has received a much needed update to version 1.3. The latest update improves performance and adds some hot new features including selectable feeds, photo tagging, landscape mode, clearing multiple notifications, and more. Though recently announced by Facebook, the new Places feature is not included in this update and remains an iOS exclusive.

According to Facebook, the webOS version of Facebook boasts of 1.2 million active monthly users. While this figure pales in comparison to the 44 million active users on iOS devices, this is still a respectable number considering the market share and overall perception problem that plagues this platform. Despite having a core of enthusiastic users, webOS still trails all the major platforms and grabbed a meager 0.7% market share in 2009.

Nonetheless, it is encouraging to see a major platform like Facebook investing time and effort into its webOS application. Hopefully, this trend will continue to blossom so that the rumored HP webOS tablet can launch with some sweet titles to help it compete with the iPad and the sled of Android tablets coming done the pike.
