Samsung is super optimistic about the prospects of its Android-powered tablet – the Korean company plans to move 10 million Galaxy Tab units worldwide. In an interview to The Wall Street Journal, Samsung product executive Hankil Yoon talked about these plans, adding that in the U.S. the Galaxy Tab “would likely retail for between $200 and $300.” I assume this figure requires some carrier contract, most likely two years long.
As part of its strategy, Samsung has scored Vodafone UK as a distribution partner, which [Vodafone] will initially sell the Android tablet in the UK. If that goes as planned, I’m sure they’ll bring the Tab to the other markets they cover.
Moreover, we’ve heard rumors Verizon may also get its share of the action and there’s also the GSM version of the device with AT&T 3G bands spotted on the FCC’s website…
