WorldMate’s most excellent travel app for BlackBerry and iPhone is finding its way to Android today. It covers all the bases when your leaving town, and includes travel alerts for flights, itinerary planning, flight status lookups, directions to local destinations through links to Google Maps, hotel booking, currency converters, weather forecasts, and a bunch of other stuff. There are some great tie-ins with LinkedIn and Outlook. The BlackBerry version even automatically pulls travel data from confirmation e-mails and punts them into your itinerary automatically.

As great as WorldMate is, the subscription fees may be a turn-off for casual travellers: $11.99 for one month, $99.95 for the year. Still, the free version of the app offers a lot of the same functions. If you’ve got a trip coming up, you can download WorldMate on many platforms at the links below, or hit up their home page for a closer look at features and download links to Symbian, Palm OS, or Windows Mobile apps.
