The Desire HD has made the rounds of the rumor mill for the last month- appearing on Amazon, showing up at SuperEtrader, and starring in its own video. Previously know with the codename of Ace, the Desire HD lives up to our expectations and its “HD” name with the following specs:

  • 4.3 inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen display
  • 1 GHZ Qualcomm Snapdragon Processor
  • 768MB RAM
  • HSPA/WCDMA (900/2100MHz)
  • GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900)
  • 8-megapixel camera with autofocus and dual-led flash
  • 720p video recording
  • 1.5GB of internal storage; microSD expansion
  • 802.11 b/g/n WiFi
  • Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, FTP, OPP, and PBAP
  • 3.5mm audio jack
  • microUSB
  • Sensor: motion G-sensor, proximity, ambient light sensor
  • Dolby Mobile
  • Adobe Flash 10 support
  • DLNA
  • Unibody Aluminum design
  • Size and weight 123 x 68 x 11.8 mm (4.84 x 2.67 x 0.46 inches)
  • 164 grams (5.78 ounces) with 1230 mAh battery
  • Android 2.2 OS with the latest version of Sense

The Desire HD is a notable improvement over the original Desire, offering a larger display (4.3 versus 3.7-inches), improved camera (8MP versus 5MP),  HSPA+ connectivity, and HD recording (though that can be added to the Desire via a custom Android 2.2 ROM). The Desire HD also follows the styling of the HTC Legend by offering a unibody aluminum design.

The Desire HD will be available across major European and Asian markets starting in October. Hopefully, HTC will show the rest of the world some love and release this outside of Eurasia. Keep checking back today are we are on location at HTC’s London event and should have some drool-worthy hands-on images of this HTC Android handset later today.
