Good news for Cellular South customers as the HTC Desire is now available for purchase on the carrier’s website. The Desire is the third Android device to hit Cellular South and is joined by the HTC Hero and the Motorola Milestone. Priced very reasonably, this Cellular South handset will set you back $149.99 after a $50 mail-in reward card and a two-year customer agreement.
Cellular South also joins US Cellular in offering this older, yet still high-end Android handset. Cellular South undercuts the price of the US Cellular Desire by $50, but US Cellular got the jump on Cellular South and released the Android 2.1-powered handset late last month.
While the tech world is ready to abandon this handset for the newly announced HTC Desire HD and the Desire Z, the original Desire is still a very capable smartphone. This HTC handset sports a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, a 3.7-inch WVGA display, 5-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3G connectivity, and Android 2.1 with HTC Sense.
