An update of Angry Birds for Android is now available

If you’ve been too distracted by Fruit Ninja on Android to notice that the Angry Birds beta has a received an update, direct your attention back to the Rovio game for a moment, won’t you?  No, you won’t actually find new levels, but performance enhancements and bug fixes can be found throughout.

From my experience playing Angry Birds on both an iPod Touch and a Samsung Vibrant, I’ve seen much better game play on the Galaxy S phone, even if the application is still in beta. This is likely due to the much superior hardware the Vibrant has over the iPod Touch, but nonetheless, it’s a better experience.

The iPod Touch stutters often when playing the app too long, and the sounds turn themselves off at any given moment. I’ve yet to have any of these hang ups on the Android application.

The update should also allow more devices to be able to find it on the Android Market, of which I still can’t find on the Vibrant. Thankfully, you can now find the game on Get Jar if you’re unable to find the game on the Android Market. Hopefully, by the time the full version of the application is released, there will be less of a need to have an external link to the application, but it could prove to be useful for those without the Android Market that need to sideload their applications.

Let’s hope the full version of the game will get here sooner than later, as I’ve beaten it so many times. We know it should be right around the corner, but it can’t come any sooner. Hopefully we’ll be seeing better titles in the near future and OpenFeint should definitely help with that.

If you were unable to find the Angry Birds beta before, what about now?

If you still can’t find Angry Birds in the Android Market, hit up this Get Jar link to download and manually install it.

Ok, I have to get back to killing those pigs …
