We just got official word of the HTC Desire Z earlier in London this week, as well as some sweet hands-on time with the device, and now it looks like Amazon U.K. will be offering the device unlocked on October 11. This hot new phone ships free for £429.99 ($672), according to Amazon U.K.
The HTC Desire Z is much like the T-Mobile G2 for the U.S. Our very own Will Park had this to say about the device when he went hands on earlier this week:
The DZ features an 800Mhz processor, 3.7-inch Super LCD display (WVGA), 5-megapixel camera (with LED flash and 720p HD video recording), 3G data, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, microSD card slot, 3.5mm headphone jack, flip-out QWERTY keyboard, ambient light sensor/g-sensor/proximity sensor and is powered by Android 2.2 Froyo. That’s a respectable specs-sheet, especially if you’re a business user that puts a premium on usability over sheer processing power.
Given Will’s positive feelings toward the Desire Z, this is looking like it’s gonna be a pretty hot phone for those who want an Android handset with a keyboard. And soon, if you’re in the U.K., you’ll be able to pick one up unlocked for your carrier of choice.
Fret not, State-side friends, as the T-Mobile G2 will be launching very soon and you’ll also have a decent and capable Android handset for your carrier.
In the meantime, check out our hands-on video of the Desire Z in action below.
