Sonim, the company behind the world’s toughest phones in the world, is preparing to launch a new product that promises to once again redefine the category (it’s not their marketing pitch – it’s my personal opinion).
We’re hearing that the upcoming device, Sonim XP1300 Core, will be announced in early October all in its “IP68 certified glory,” which means it will provide complete protection against dust, and can be submerged in water at depths greater than 1 meter!
As a point of reference, previous model – Sonim XP3.2 Quest Pro – was “only” IP67 certified as most other rugged phones claim to be.
Specs wise, the Core will rock EDGE connectivity, Bluetooth, media player and a web browser. In terms of pricing, we think it will sell for about $500 sans any contracts signed — that was the original price of the Sonim XP3.2 Quest Pro and we think its successor will stay in the same price range.
