
Provider of premium mobile publishing and advertising technologies to local media companies, Verve Wireless, has closed a $7 million round of financing led by BlueRun Ventures. Previous investors, including The Associated Press, also participated in the round. The company will use the new money to further develop and expand its products and services.
Those unfamiliar, myself included, should know that Verve offers local publishers a technology to distribute and manage news and targeted advertising across all mobile platforms, iPhone and Android included. At the moment, Verve’s platform and tools are used by more than 750 media companies around the world.
At the end of the press release, Verve shared some cool stats:
- More than 14 million readers accessed news from mobile devices via Verve’s mobile publishing platform in July, a 151% increase over the prior year period.
- At the same time, Verve served 150 million mobile news pages in July, a 105% increase year over year.
- To date seven million of Verve’s mobile news apps have been downloaded to devices like the iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, Nokia and Windows-powered smartphones.
- Verve has flighted over a billion mobile ads across its network of premium publishers.
