PBS NewsHour is joining pretty much the rest of the media to launch its iPhone app. There are two things they want to emphasize about its iApp – HD-quality video and customizable news feeds, which provide users with easier access to the content they find most interesting, be it politics, business, arts, international news or science…
And that’s about it – we’re talking about a pretty simple app here, or at least that’s the way I see it.
In case you don’t know, PBS NewsHour is seen five nights a week on more than 315 PBS stations across the U.S. and is also available online, via public radio in select markets and via podcast. The program is produced by MacNeil/Lehrer Productions, in association with WETA Washington, DC, and THIRTEEN in New York.
Commenting on the iPhone app launch, Jim Lehrer said: “The iPhone app is just the latest step in the NewsHour move to extend beyond the hour and offer our signature brand of journalism, MacNeil-Lehrer journalism, anywhere, anytime.”
