Opera Software’s Open Mobile Ad Exchange brings ads to Opera Mini

Opera Software is joining the mobile ad market with the newly launched Open Mobile Ad Exchange service, offering cloud-based advertising on both feature phones and smartphones. There are now about 66.5 million Opera Mini users, making it the world’s largest mobile audience.

Here are the key features of the new service:

  • Publishers maximize their revenue from apps and content by using easily-embedded JavaScript in their webpages.
  • Advertisers get detailed visibility and control over advertising monetization via near-real-time reporting and analytics.
  • Campaign management, frequency control and targeting results in optimal return on investment for mobile campaigns.
  • Advertisers, agencies, and ad networks reach a broad and diverse audience of Opera Mini users.

The great thing about the whole thing is that ads appear not in the browser interface, but as regular website advertising. For a second (before reading the whole press release) I was afraid Opera Mini users would be annoyed with the ads in the interface, but obviously I was wrong. And I love how it all sounds!
