Samsung Galaxy K is a Korea-only Galaxy S variant with Android 2.2

And we thought all those different Samsung Galaxy S names were hard to follow in the U.S.? South Koreans have comparable problems as they can choose between Galaxy S, Galaxy A and now Galaxy K smartphones. The last mentioned has been announced recently and it’s heading towards KT.

The “K” version comes with Galaxy A-like 3.7-inch screen, which is 0.3 inches smaller than the original Galaxy S. Rest of the specs remain pretty much the same and include such things as HSPA and WiFi connectivity, 1GHz CPU, 8GB of internal memory that’s further expandable with microSD memory cards. Of course, since it’s a Korean smartphone, T-DMB mobile TV capability also comes built-in and there’s also support for KT’s Olleh market, which works alongside Android Market.

Finally, what’s most interesting is that the Galaxy A is the only phone in the family that comes with Android 2.2 out of box…

As for the price, KT will offer the Galaxy K in white and black colors for ask 800,000 won, which is about $716. Kinda steep, don’t you think?
