Windows Phone 7 is going to hit very soon and a number of handset buyers will undoubtedly be Mac users, too. So Microsoft is releasing a new tool that will allow Windows Phone 7 handsets sync with Mac OS X. However, given Apple’s tight control over its platform, the Windows Phone software will only allow the syncing of select content. I’m thinking contacts and calendar here.
According to Ars Technica:
“Later in 2010 Microsoft will make a public beta available of a tool that allows Windows Phone 7 to sync select content with Mac computers,” a Microsoft spokesperson told Ars.
Like BlackBerry Desktop Manager and iSync for Nokia, my guess is that Windows Phone 7 sync software won’t allow you to sync media from iTunes. That’s to be expected, though, and at the very least you’ll be able to all your other stuff like contacts and calendar. There is nothing worse than sitting with your new phone and spending the first hour or two adding contacts (although I’ve found this a great way to delete contacts and slim down the list in the past).
