So, the Droid X and Droid 2 can now be overclocked with a simple $1 app. Guess what the app’s name is? DX/D2 Overclocker. Clever, right? And for 99 cents you can overclock your Android handset’s CPU to 1.2GHz or 1.3GHz with a single push of a button depending on just how willing you are in destroying your battery life. Oh, and the app comes from a group called Unstable Apps – just so you know what you’re getting yourself into.
Just so you know, the Droid X has been overclocked to 1.1GHz already and has been shown to be stable. Additionally, the Droid 2 has previously been overclocked to 1.2GHz. And when you really think about it, you shouldn’t need a whole hell of a lot more than that for your Android smartphone.
