Nokia Internet Radio, one of the most used Symbian S60 apps, is finding its way to the Series 40 feature phone platform. Still in beta, the application allows users to browse through tens of thousands of stations, which are organized by genre, language and region. Alternatively, you can also search for the specific station if you know what you want, and once found, it [station] can be easily added to favorites.
And there’s more. As you listen to some song, you can immediately buy it from Ovi Music store. Not all stations support this feature, but some do.
Moreover, there’s support for background playback, allowing you to do some other things while the music is playing. It’s one of those features we thought won’t work on a feature phone, but guess we were wrong. The reason for this may be found in the fact Nokia Internet Radio at the moment supports only select Series 40 handsets, including the X2 and some X3 variants (-00, -01, and -02), with more devices to be added in the near future…
