T-Mobile announces four affordable Android handsets for the holidays

After rolling out the high-end G2 and myTouch 4G, T-Mobile unveiled its lineup of affordable Android handsets. These low-cost offerings will debut on November 3rd and will include the following handsets:

  • T-Mobile Comet is an entry-level offering with a 528 MHz processor, 2.8-inch touchscreen display, 3.2 megapixel camera, and a black finish.  Manufactured by Huawei, the T-Mobile Comet will be available for $9.99 after $50 rebate and a two-year contract. It is also available on a prepaid basis for less than $200 (plus taxes and fees) which makes it a very affordable prepaid option.
  • LG Optimus T is another entry-level handset with a 600 MHz processor, 3.2-inch full touch screen display and a 3.2 megapixel camera with video capture. The Optimus T includes a voice actions feature that provides advanced voice command features. The Optimus T will be available in burgundy or titanium for $29.99 after $50 mail-in rebate and two-year contract.
  • Motorola DEFY is a rugged Android handset equipped to be scratch-resistant, water-resistant, and dust-proof. The DEFY has an 800MHz processor, a 3.7-inch full touch screen,  a 5-megapixel camera with flash and video capture, and MOTORBLUR. The Motorola DEFY is available in a black and linen finish for $99.99 after $50 mail-in rebate and two-year contract.
  • Motorola CHARM is another entry-level handset that includes MOTOBLUR. The CHARM features a full QWERTY keyboard, 2.8-inch touchscreen display, 600MHz processor, and a 3-megapixel camera. It also includes BACKTRACK, a rear touchpad that makes web browsing and handset navigation easy. The Motorola CHARM is available in a golden bronze or cabernet finish for $49.99 after $50 mail-in rebate and two-year contract..

With it diverse lineup of Android handsets, T-Mobile is defending its title as the darling of Android. While Verizon and its DROID lineup grabs a lot of attention, T-Mobile has more Android handsets than any other carrier in the US. Android is all about choice and T-Mobile is leading the way.
