The first official “Business Droid”, the Motorola Droid Pro is set to hit Verizon on November 18th, if the document above is correct. The document also called the Pro an iconic device, and it is in some aspects, but we will have to wait and see consumer response before we can call the device “iconic”. If you just can’t wait until the 18th, you can pre-order the device, as soon as next week.
Starting November 9th, the Droid Pro will be available for pre-order, and while the document doesn’t state it, it’s likely only for existing Verizon Wireless customers. The pre-sale will run until the 17th, where the handset will launch the following day. Those of you who pre-order may be surprised to receive the phone a couple of days early, as the orders will be shipped by November 10th-11th.
The Droid Pro features a 3.1 inch display with a very BlackBerry-like keyboard also adorning the front, a 5 megapixel camera with dual-LED flash, 8GB internal memory with an 8GB MicroSD card (expandable to 32GB), DLNA, WiFi, Bluetooth, and Google applications. The Motorola Pro is running on Android 2.2, so it will be able to take advantage of all the great features of the newest OS version, including Adobe Flash support.
So is the Pro something you’d call iconic? Ehhh. It’s iconic in the fact that it’s the first Android phone specifically made for business users, and that we’ve yet to see this particular form-factor on an Android phone before. In that regard, the Droid Pro will likely not be all that “iconic” in the eyes of Joe Schmoe. Nonetheless, business users have another real alternative to the BlackBerry, and that may be all the device needs to be iconic.
What’s your take on the Motorola Droid Pro? Would you call it iconic?
