Android 2.2 Froyo Coming to HTC Legend Soon

HTC just left a note on their Facebook wall about Android 2.2 on the Legend. It’s not ready quite yet, but they acknowledge that they’re almost done and it should be going to carrier testing soon.

The Legend was announced last February as a successor the Hero with a tough unibody design. It eventually launched with Android 2.1 and a dash of Sense, a 3.2-inch HVGA touchscreen, Wi-Fi, GPS, 7.2 Mbps-capable 3G, and a 5 megapixel camera. At this point it’s a fairly mid-range phone, but more than enough smartphone for many who are new to Android.

Considering this handset launched with 2.1, the need for 2.2 isn’t what you’d call huge, but for some, Flash 10.1 support and mobile hotspot are a pretty big deal. Even if they aren’t officially supported, there are ways to get Froyo on older devices, ad the Legend is no exception.

We’ll keep you posted on when Froyo is available on the HTC Legend, but considering it hasn’t even gone to the carriers yet, it probably won’t land before the holidays.
