Will: Windows Is Gaining Ground!

Symbian vs Windows Mobile

So, Dusan, today’s headlines are pretty impressive. Most notably we are seeing a decline in Symbian OS market share! Now I don’t want to say that the forecasted 40-something percent market share is anything to laugh at, especially when the nearest competitor only has single-digit market share, but this may be a growing trend. As smartphones start to penetrate more heavily into the worldwide market, I think Windows Mobile will start to grab more of a foothold, even in Europe.

And we are going to see this penetration push coming from manufacturers, since they tend to stay loyal to a particular OS. For example, the Moto Q is getting another push through Motorola’s doors with an Amp’d version. This can only help spread the WinMo-word. But the word won’t be limited to just consumers of the plain-joe-schmo variety. With devices like HP’s “future smartphone” it looks like network techs of the future will be embracing (don’t they already?) Windows Mobile 6.0
