Western Digital announced that its WD Photos photo viewer app is no longer an iPhone thing, only — Android users are now also invited to jump on board and access photos stored on their compatible WD hard drives while on the go.
If for some reason you like this idea — as opposed to hosting your images in the cloud — you’ll be glad to know that the application works on all latest smartphone, boasting support for large WVGA screens.
Photos are automatically resized for perfect viewing on Android devices, leaving originals on the network drives in full resolution. There’s the smart filtering feature, allowing you to browse and search photos by album, folder, date and/or filename. In addition, previously viewed photos are saved offline, and you can share each of the photos from your gallery via email, Facebook, Twitter, Picasa and “other methods” (not sure which methods are left, though)…
And that raps it up. To grab Western Digital’s mobile app, search for “wd photos” in the Android Market and take it from there.
