Enterprise-Ready Motorola Droid Pro Shipping Early From Verizon

The Motorola Droid Pro is shipping a little ahead of its planned November 18 release from Verizon.

The new Motorola touchscreen candybar has a physical QWERTY keyboard, 1 GHz processor, 512 MB of RAM, 5 megapixel camera, 3.1-inch HVGA display, 8 GB of internal memory, Wi-Fi with DLNA support, GPS, and 3G over EV-DO. The Droid Pro runs Android 2.2, with the usual fixings, like mobile hotspot and Flash 10.1 support in the browser.

The keyboard reminds me an awful lot of BlackBerry’s design but I suppose that’s a good thing considering how comfortable it is. The real kicker will come when Motorola launches encrypted data and remote wipe and password management next year to really butt heads with BlackBerry in the enterprise space. You can also use the Verizon Droid Pro overseas, since it supports global roaming. The SIM card within will allow you to take your Motorola Droid Pro from Verizon’s US network to a plethora of international carriers, should you find yourself on the long end of a business flight.

You can check out our hands-on with the Motorola Droid Pro here, or head on over to Verizon and get ordering for $179.99 on a two-year contract.
